Since my childhood...
... I have always wanted to be in the company
of dogs. My daughters, Shannan and Allison were fortunate to
have two Shelties, Buffy (a tri-color) and Ginger (a sable),
as companions and guardians. Buffy went to the Rainbow Bridge
at age 17; Ginger followed at 16. After a period of mourning,
I decided to find another Sheltie to be a companion for my youngest
daughter Ashley. I was in love with the breed and had hopes of
starting a breeding program. I understood the importance of finding
a well bred Sheltie to fulfill my dream, so the search began
for a show-quality blue merle female. After doing a lot of research,
going to dog shows, meeting breeders, and seeing lots of beautiful
dogs, I was fortunate to meet Jane Hammett of Shadow Hill Shelties.
In 1990 I acquired a female Sheltie from Jane that I named “Bonnie”,
Shadow Hill’s Bonnie Blue II, CGC . Bonnie became the dam
of my first champion, Ch Shadow Hill’s Clint Eastwood.
When
Jane decided to trust me with another one of her special dogs,
I acquired Ch Edgemont’s Blue Rembrandt “Trouble”.
He was
a huge success in the breed ring, with multiple breed wins and
group placements. He expanded his show career into the Jr Showmanship
ring, where he and Ashley were a very successful team. Ashley
was one of the top juniors in the USA for several years, reaching
the coveted #1 ranking many times, while concurrently handling
Trouble to multiple group placements and national rankings in
the breed ring. They continued their winning ways in the Veterans
classes, where Ashley handled Trouble to many Best Veteran wins
and two Best Veteran in Show wins. Trouble was retired at age
11 and left us for the Rainbow Bridge at age 16.
In my breeding
program, I have strived to maintain the same level of quality
and soundness with which I began. My dogs are beautiful, smart
and healthy. My goal is to produce dogs who can do it all . .
. conformation, agility, obedience, herding, service work . .
. or a companion dog who just wants to be your best friend.
